Hello, my dog is approximately 9 years old and he's a mix. Yesterday around 4:30pm he started becoming restless, it was about an hour after he ate.
However, he ate normal and went to the bathroom and did not vomit. He was then up all night pacing and digging. Still no vomiting.
This morning he has still been acting the same way, but seems to be laying down for longer periods of time now. He ate and went to the bathroom normally.
He does not seem to be in pain when you touch various areas on him. He is not panting. Still not vomiting. He's probably exhausted at this point.
Usually when his stomach is upset I can immediately tell. He gets a certain look on his face and hunches over and will not lay down at all. This is not the case this time.
I do notice that after I give him his monthly heart worm pill, a few days later he has stomach issues. Even though his symptoms are different this time, I'm wondering if it's still related.

Has anyone experience pacing/digging with their dogs? Did you find out the cause? I will take him to the vet this afternoon if he's not feeling better, but in the meantime wanted to see if anyone has any insight.

With a change of behavior with an older dog, it might be a good idea to have him checked out by you vet. He could be in pain of some sorts. Best be safe that sorry and make the appointment.

Good luck to you.

I second the trip to the Vet suggestion. Any time there is a change in behavior that can not be easily explained, you need a Vet to diagnose and if necessary, treat. My guess would be, he is in pain, but again, you need your Vet to confirm.
