Hi

I have a Rotty x Staffy called Harry who is now 1 1/2 yrs old.

I got him as a rehome as the family before hand kept him in the kitchen locked away with no toys, never walked and he didnt even know what a lead was.

Ive managed in the small time i had him to train him all sorts however there is one issue which is beyond me.

He licks his feet continuously throughout the day and night, he has been to the vets who said theres nothing physically wrong with his feet, so i am assuming its behaviour hes gotten from his previous home.

How on earth do i stop it as its driving me nuts and its obviously affecting him.

Thanks

They call that "self medicating" licking releases Seritonin in the brain and makes the dog feel better. Its a hard habit to break since its sorta like an addiction.

Try to figure out what might be causing him anxiety and when he does the licking redirect him to a toy or a task.

My pomeranian does this because she is a stress case. Does your dog seem normal otherwise?
