Hi, my dog has been itching a lot lately. He's definitely had cases of fleas in the past, but I haven't seen any signs of them on him recently, and it's easy to spot them running around on his skin if they're there.

I recently treated him with Advantix, gave him a dose of CapGuard, sprayed him a little bit on his tummy area with flea spray, and even gave him a flea bath yesterday. He's always biting/scratching his underside area, particularly his genital/butt area. Then he'll get up for a minute, but whatever's making him itch will stop him in his tracks and he'll go at it again. His skin doesn't look raw or pink or anything either. Also, this seems to come on more at night.

This has me puzzled...Could this just be an allergy? Also, :confused:I know I've definitely had bouts of dry skin in the winter where I'd itch like crazy at night, and am wondering if dogs can experience something similar?

Samantha tends to have dry itchy skin. I give her an omega 3 supplement daily, with her morning meal. Makes a huge difference, she hardly scratches at all.
I buy this(Vet Solutions Aller G3 Omega3 Fatty Acid Liquid (8 oz)) it comes in a squirt bottle, add several squirts, and itching is greatly reduced.

@Cuppybear I think Blue Buffalo has Pumpkin in it which can cause some dogs itchy skin. My neighbor can't feed any of their food to her dogs because of this.

Hi, I've switched to Blue Buffalo adult food: https://www.chewy.com/dog/blue-buffalo-life-protection-formula/dp/32041

I researched and it gets some of the best reviews as far as quality goes. It was either this or Wellness.

Maybe supplements is the way to go then...
Wellness made my dogs dried for some reason. They did great on BB basic turkey. Some others that I like better are Zignature or Go sensitive and shine. I like that they replaced the potato with beans which means more protein.
