Hello! My family has had a cat for over 14 years. We have had our cocker spaniel for over 4 years now. The dog and cat get along fine—sometimes our dog tries to play with the cat and/or gets excited around her but nothing big and the cat just ignores her. About 2 months ago my mom got a new dog. All of a sudden our older dog has become aggressive towards the cat to where I had to jump off my bed to stop it!! No one was hurt but it was escalating. (Our new dog is slightly smaller than the cat and is scared of the cat!)
Our dog has never been aggressive towards any other animal, person, or thing. I would love any advice on what I could do to help the situation because I have NO idea, since she has never been anything but sweet.
