Recently one of my dogs passed away. In the week since his passing one of my dogs in particular has been very lethargic and seemingly depressed. He is still eating, drinking, having his regular bowel movements. He seems best in the morning when he wakes up. (excited to be waking us up to cuddle) and then as the day goes on he gets depressed and seems to have lost interest in just being playful.

I guess my question is, is it normal for dogs to mourn one another? I am unsure if and when I should be concerned about his behavior. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm really sorry for your loss. :(
My dog had a friend who also passed away, and definitely seemed to miss him a lot.
I think it's perfectly normal. I think you should make sure that your dog is OK - take him to the vet just to be sure. You should maybe consider getting another dog (not to replace, of course!) if your dog is getting really lonely.
