Our dog has not been eating a lot the past few days. We found out he has mild pancreatitis. I've been doing some online reading and now I'm worried for him. The vet is giving him medicine for 10 days and pepcid. Is he going to be okay?????

He should be ok, as long as you follow his diet restrictions. We have a neighbor that has a dog, that was very sick with pancreatitis, and had been on and off for several years. The Vet put her on some prescription food, which virtually turned her into a different dog. She has been at least a year and a half, or more, with no sign of pancreatitis, has put weight on, looks great and is a happy healthy dog now. That prescription food is, however, not inexpensive, but has literally worked miracles for our neighbors dog.

My mother's 12 year old dog has pancreatitis...he is on a low-fat prescription diet, isn't allowed anything other than his diet because he reacts badly to treats, titbits, scavenged bits etc. He's perfectly fit for his age.

My dog had acute pancreatitis a few years ago. I can't remember what the vets gave her, but she got over it and has been fine since. She is now 12 1/2 years old.

My boss's border terrier has chronic pancreatitis and has had for few years. He is on a special low fat diet and doing well.

So with proper treatment/diet your dog should be OK.
