i would like to get my Dogs groomed this late fall, early winter. and i was wondering whats an average price to pay for two large dogs?

i have a Male Stud, year and 3 months, black lab/german shepared 25-26 inches tall and over 90 pounds, not long hair more like a lab coat.

also a 9-10 month old GSD puppy, female, 23-24 inches tall, 55-65 pounds, average GSD coat.

i would like to get a wash/groom/nails done.

we have a petco and pet smart near us. plus some other grooming places.

Trust me, it's much less costly to do it at home

they will freak about water from hoses they dont mind on their own terms, we have 2 ponds and they are in it a lot. but if im watering the horses or filling their water or plants, they are gone! and they get itchy from the pond and i would like to get them in to get a good scrubbing.

i tried myself and my Male tryed to take off and messed up my shoulder. and she will lay down if she sees the hose we are going over too.

Prices will very where you are. where I am they would be about 50 each for the whole works, bath, HV dryer that helps remove a ton of coat, brush, nails, ear cleaning and minor trimming (feet, paw pads, ears, )

But you wont get the same results. Unless you own the proper products.

Call some groomers. They should beable to give you a quote. I forgot to say we also charge for temperment, if the dogs are bonkers and hard to handle or agressive we do charge more. At my shop we get what we call petsmart rejects lol. Dogs petsmart will not groom due to behaviour iissues. Guess they dont want to groom bad dogs in their fish bowl (the big viewing area where you can see them grooming I call a fish bowl lol. I would HATE to be watched all day long)

I would definitely call local groomers for pricing. Every groomer/area is different. For a Malamute we charge a starting price of 65, that doesn't include extra work put in removing excessive packed under coat and behavior fees, which if you say they freak out at the hose they could very well incur. I am also going to go ahead and say if they freak out at a hose with water they will likely freak out about the hose from the high velocity forced air dryer. Good luck!

Id personally try calling smaller, non chain, grooming shops. By the sounds of it, your dogs will be bad to groom, no offense but you say they hate the hose. So they will be more trouble to groom then a dog who has been taught how to have a simple bath. I know around here petsmart bans any dog that is bad for anything. I groom many dogs who have been banned from pets mart for simple things as to old to stand for long (I lab X I groom regularly. Who yes has trouble standing but she can stand long enough to get a decent groom dont on her) to the fearful dogs who will bite due to fear, I groom many of them, who all also have been banned. And honestly after working with them a few times, they get to know you and are not really that bad at all.

If you bring them in to petsmart. You may be getting one back soaking wet when they realize they can not groom them

Keep in mind though that those prices may not include any measurable undercoat removal. In my experience of grooming dogs ( Samoyeds, husky's etc) that have come in 8 weeks after going to a petsmart- with the amount of undercoat they ha in them there is no way that the previous groomer did anything but a surface brushing, so it may be an add on service to get any under coat out.

Help!!
I am currently dog sitting a friends dog and she was really smelly and dirty on arrival, so decided to give her bath. I went to the pets at home and bought their white coat shampoo.... now I think the dog seems a little too white?? Will her normal coat colour return? If so, how long will it take to return - I really don't want my friend to be upset by her whiter than white dog! Any help you could give me would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

I looked at their website, and it doesn't appear to have anything that would have changed her color, just brightens them up. She just looks whiter because she is cleaner! And as the owner of a mostly white dog, if I picked my dog up from a friend looking especially sparkling white I might bring her over to them more often! So I wouldn't worry.
