What do you look for in your dog enrichment products?

Hi all!

I am doing some market research on dog enrichment products and wanted to see what others are currently doing for their dogs. If you wouldn’t mind taking a few a moments to answer these questions, i’d really appreciate your feedback:

1. When looking for dog enrichment products, do you look for multiple enrichment products for your dog or do you just look for single products?
2. If only interested in purchasing a single product, would a package with multiple products that are distinctly different or have multiple applications make this more attractive? Or, is there anything else that you would look for from a bundle?
3. Would you be interested in getting more enrichment ideas and tips with your products?
4. Is a charity element or donation important for you?

Thanks again for your time! x

Hi Melissa. Welcome to the forum. :)

I'm glad you made the vote multiple choice because the only one I'm not particularly interested in is branding.

1) As @Mad Murphy says, safety is (and should be) the single most important factor when choosing any toy. Durability would be another factor. I've bought a few enrichment toys over the years that have been a one-hit wonder, toys that claim to "keep a dog entertained for hours" which Milly figured out in seconds. Disappointing for the both of us.

The material it's made from might be another consideration, which to some degree features in with durability too. Not so much for myself, but if someone lives in an upstairs flat (like I do) with laminate flooring (which I don't) then the noise of the dog playing with a hard plastic toy could cause a noise nuisance to the neighbour(s) below - it's enough to make me cringe when Milly drops her buster cube down the stairs.

2) Yes, a package deal with significantly different items/applications would interest me more than a standalone product. Given that I have two dogs often described as "little and large", toy packages that reflect that difference would save me time and money too.

3) I'm always looking for enrichment ideas, so that could be useful, but tips? I tend to pick up them just by being an active forum user. ;)

4) I wouldn't necessarily go looking for toys that donate to charity (because if it was that important to me, I'd browse the charity's shop instead, where I can be sure 100% of the purchase price is going to the harity) but if, for example, a toy was for sale on eBay by two different sellers, one who donated a portion of the sales to charity and one who didn't, I'd go for the charity option.
