My male dog was neutered ( testicles removed) back in April 2011. We adopted him in June 2011. On occasion, he will rummage in my daughter's dirty clothes and I will find him with a pair of her panties in his mouth. This morning I caught him with one and it was very wet. Could he have pleasured himself? ...for lack of better words.

Maybe.
Or it could be wet from saliva.

It would be very hard for him to use the panties for this because he really needs to "hump" something.

In any case, even if he did, semen is harmless.

Thank you for your response. I know semen is harmless, lol, but my main question was if it is possible for a neutered male to still ejaculate? So I guess the answer is yes?

I honestly am not sure of the answer to that... never seen it happen, but physiologically it should be possible. Mostly without the testosterone, there is not much sex drive for most male dogs.

He'd be shooting blanks, anyway.

Tess is right...saliva. I don't think that tiny dog could produce enough for you to notice though I think the neutering thing renders them unable to. I'ts not like a vasectomy where the man can still have sex...they take the testicles out.

Pee/blood/poop/sweat...those can attract dogs. dogs licks your face sometimes just because you taste salty and he likes that. Sometimes he smells something yummy and undigested in your poop. It's not a psychological issue where the dog is wanting to get freaky. I hate to be gross but a dog's favorite thing to gnaw on if they can get it is a tampon. Sorry...it's gross but true. They don't realize any sexual association with panties.

Well. I know that a neutered male can still "tie" so.. maybe?

eta, you probably were just feeling saliva, but as far as whether they can.. see above.

Right I understand there is no sexual association with panties, it's the scent that attracts them , like with tampons (have had that issue as well) I was just wanting to find out if it was physically possible for a neutered male to ejaculate.

I'm gonna agree that its probly saliva in this case. Have to admit I'm not sure if a neutered male can still produce semen (minus the sperm of course), but Cali's right, I know of neutered males who'd tied, so in theory I suppose they could.

(when I was a kid one of my parents' siamese cats used to steal my dirty undies to roll around on, so its not just your dog if that makes you feel better, it drove me NUTS)

My mini pin was neutered at exactly 6mos old. I wanted to do it as soon as possible. And guess what. He does his thing and ejaculates in his crate. It’s awful. It has a “special” odor. I called the vet, and they said some dogs just do that. They have one they’ve been treating that makes himself bleed, it’s so bad. So then I felt grateful that my dog wasn’t that bad and we’ve just accepted it. He’s 11 years old now and still doing it. :(

Our Pit does this all the time. They smell the extra hormones and they will find the dirtiest panties, no matter how big the dirty laundry pile is. Our Boxer doesn't pay them any mind. He's 8...not sure if he knows better or just isn't interested. Our Pit is 4 and he does know better, but he cannot resist. It's also a lesson for my girls that they need to ensure their clothes are picked up and not strewn about like slobs. HAHA

As far as being physically possible...the physiological side of it is the same as humans. Ejaculate is produced by the prostate. Even though testicles are removed in dogs, the prostate isn't. So theoretically yes it's possible. Most of the sex drive is removed since it's the testicles that produce the hormones and drive to mate. But even neutered male dogs do get "erections," but at that point, it's typically excitement not necessarily related to sex.

We dog sat a male Chihuahua mix once who was intact and I felt so bad for this poor dog. It was uncontrollable for him, but I found him cowering in a corner with an erection just ejaculating with no sexual stimulation. He looked as though he was in pain. At the time, all my own dogs were males (neutered) and we were dog sitting him and he was the only intact one. So there was no stimulation at all...it was just something he couldn't help. Poor guy.
