Hello we have just got our first puppy (12 wks) & while we are making good headway with her weeing outside, she only ever poos inside.

In the whole of the 3 weeks we have had her, nine our family members have ever seen her do a poo. If we take her out (she could be outside for hours with us), she'll wee, but not poo.

Then when she returns home she always goes in the same place in the utility room. In fairness it's usually on a mat we've placed down - which by the way we've tried locating just outside the backdoor again to no avail.

One last thing worth saying is that she tends to poo when we've locked he in the utility room (where her basket is). It has a glass door to the kitchen, but when she's in there (she's left there at night) she always barks to get out & you can be sure this is the time she duck around the corner when either stressed/frustrated or feeling neglected to do a poo.

Not sure how to break the habit. As I say it's not about her not having access to fields or limited walks, she's just not doing it.

Oh PS she gets the element of a wee outside gets a treat - so we have that cracked & loves it. Help anyone ??

Housetraining

Check out crate training. If you have 9 family members, they could help with this. It is worth doing right, from the beginning, so that your pup will learn what is expected. For now, he should be either outdoors, inside in a crate, or inside on a leash with someone watching him.
