We have always been a dog family, having loved three amazing Rotties (all lived to 12 and 13, each died in my arms..) and moved on to Labs once our babies started arriving...We are down to our last Lab, who is 8 and have just recently put our amazing old 14 year old lab to sleep a few weeks ago. About 2 months ago we rescued this adorable dog--something completely different than we've ever had, and much smaller (we think anyway.) She took one look at as and she was ours. Her ears were bent when we came home with her but over time they have gone straight up. They said she was a cattle dog, but I'm thinking definitely a mix of some sort, I have friends who have cattle dogs and they are much more roaned (or ticked?) than our new little Aspen is. Her temperament is wonderful, typical puppy and energetic but equally as happy to lay on the balcony or by the pool all day with our yellow lab. She loves to hike, now that she's finished her puppy series and has been cleared for take off.... But she wears out faster than a terrier, which is my gut instinct on what she is mixed is (Maybe Rat? Maybe a little JRT?) Her calm demeanor and ability to vegetate shys me away from JRT..lol.. But here are a few photos...We purchased a DNA test from MARS Veterinary...I realize it could be a total waste but we figured we'd see what it comes back with...In the meantime.....Any ideas? She's adorable as all heck...I had her Crate trained in a week, She potty's on command now outside (but she can't be trusted to not piddle inside, especially if she's excited.) can already sit, stay, down, roll over, doesn't "come" on command yet, but she's super smart, I know that. I will be putting her in training now that she's over 16 weeks and has all her shots. She's 16 weeks and weighs about 16 lbs. Seems small for a cattle dog? Help us figure out what our newest baby is!

I definitely see some cattle dog in there too. Also cattle dogs are really not that big. They average about 30 to 35 lbs I believe when they are grown.
I have a cattle dog mix and he weighs about 35 lbs. Definitely a medium sized dog.
