We've got a 16 pound Miniature Pinscher/Jack Russel mix who we put in a midwest exercise pen while we're gone. It's 4x4 with a top. Lately, he's proven to be very good as escaping it. He has gotten the clips that came with the pen off, so I replaced them with screw-shut carabiners from the hardware store. Somehow he's managed to get those off, as well.

I'm really worried that he is going to injure himself in his escape attempts (especially if he's chewing on the metal). Does anyone have an idea of how I can secure the door in a way that he won't be able to get out?

We're working on training, too, hoping that he won't feel the need to get out. Just looking for something to keep him safe until we get to that point...

Welcome to the forum..
Both breeds are very good escape artists..:) I would recommend a hard side kennel or an x-pen with no gate...
