Hey all, I have a 10 year old Miniature Schnauzer called Maggie that we’re currently having some problems with. Usually she is so good, she never chews anything, never steals anything, is good with people, cars, children, other dogs etc, basically the most laid back dog you’d ever meet! Maggie has always done this thing when she digs at her bed to get comfy like most dogs do! But recently she has gotten worse with this. Maggie will lie on her bed or on the sofa all evening with us completely fine, and once we’re all in bed she seems to go into her cage, which is open, and growl, scratch and yap at her bed. I understand she just wants to be cosy, and the scratching at her bed we don’t mind, but the tapping and barking is really starting to disturb us. There’s no noise in the house or outside that is disturbing her, like I said, nothing bothers her, she’s just barking at her bed. She’s constantly waking us up in the night doing this, and I go down, say a firm No, and go back to bed, only for her to do it all again 10 minutes later. This past week she has become really clingy and isn’t fussed on her food, although she never has, she seems to be worse this week. A trip to the vet resulted in her coming back with a clear bill of health. Any advice on what we can do to stop this yapping at her bed? The rest of my family believe she’s sensed a ghost ? Thank you all in advance ?

Have you tried washing the bed or, giving her a different bed? Maybe it simply isn't comfy enough to suit her anymore. Maybe it has an odor she dislikes. I'd try that first.
