I have an 8 year old mini schnauzer. I don't have a "problem" with him, but I do see a curious behavior with him. He usually sleeps with the family on the bed, moving from one bed to another as he desires. I am usually the one to stay awake the latest, and I have my lights on in my room, so he tends to come to my bed and sleep by himself while I am on the desk. Sometimes though, he would sit or lie on the couch in the living room by himself, in the dark, and groan and moan. He would continue until I go to look at him, at which point he jumps down from the couch and heads into my room, and gets on the bed to sleep. I always leave my door open, so its not like he's asking to be let in either. I am just curious about this seemingly pointless act of getting my attention. Any thoughts?

Dogs are weird.

Has he always done this? It could just be habit.

Talking in his sleep? And when you walk over he wakes up.
