So my almost 2 year old intact bitch is in heat and she whimpers/cries over EVERYTHING. I don't know how to make her happy and it's making me upset. She cries when I leave the room, when I don't let her run around the yard for hours, she'll lay on the bed and look at me and cry, she'll jump off the bed and stare at me and cry. She's not normally like this, she's always been a reserved, even towards me. Is this normal for a bitch it heat or is she actually in pain and needs to be vetted?

Has she acted this way during any previous heat cycles?

Any abnormal behavior should be checked out by a vet. Personally, I don't like to take chances.

A little, but not as intense as this heat. Her previous cycles were always in one place, but we've moved since then. Could a move make her more needy?

I would bring her to the vet.

Yes, sometimes bitches in heat do act different, but this sounds like a fairly large behavior change and IMO it is better to be safe than sorry.

Perhaps video the behavior as well to show the vet- might be helpful.
