Cricket is my 10 week old black lab x Treeing Walker Coonhound puppy. She can smell things from 20+ feet away! One day my husband stepped out onto the porch with a sandwich. There was no wind. The very moment his sandwich was no longer in the house, Cricket's nose went up and she ran toward him. I was standing at least 20 feet from the door!!! As cool as that is, her sense of smell is getting Cricket into trouble.

I set a half eaten yogurt cup on the coffee table for only a moment. Cricket's nose went up, and before I knew it she was across the room with her nose in the yogurt cup. My husband put a bacon wrapper in the trash the other morning. Cricket was in the other room with me out of eyesight. Her nose went up and she bolted, head first, around the corner and into the trashcan.

How can I teach Cricket not to react to her nose? When she smells things she goes crazy. Thank you!
