Our puppy hasn’t yet been vaccinated so can’t go for walks. I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions of ways we can help her lack of socialisation when we can’t see friends / family? The vets had to cancel her initial vaccination so it’s going to be a long time before she is able to walk. Any suggestions or ideas would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Laura

It's actually quite a good time to socialise a puppy, not ideal but not too bad. This is because a lot of people over expose puppies and the dog can get quite overwhelmed. That is far less likely in the current environment. There is no reason why you can't take her out tucked into your jacket - as long as she isn't on the ground she will be perfectly safe.

It's is not about plunging your puppy into every new experience, but rather allowing him or her to see, hear and get used to people and situations calmly and from a safe position.

There is quite a good checklist here - it wouldn't be practical, or necessary to get everything on the list but it's a good guideline and illustrates that socialisation is about more than just having a run around with other dogs. The Puppy Socialization Exposure Checklist - Whole Dog Journal

Thank you so much for your advice and for the link Joanne. It’s really helpful. We have a baby sling so can adapt that to make it safe to carry her as she grows!
