My Border Collie is an active (Frisbee dog) 12 year old and has been in good health her entire life. She has had one benign growth removed from her neck this past March. As she ages, she has become increasingly active in her sleep to the point that her legs flail or run repeatedly almost immediately upon falling asleep. She will not wake up even when she thrashes her legs into a wall or railing. This goes on throughout the night and basically anytime she falls asleep. This is not a seizure as she stops immediately upon being wakened.
Is this a neurological disorder? Can anything be done to help her (and the rest of the family) sleep more peacefully? All suggestions considered.
