i have a Black lab/GSD male, hes a year and four months, and has always been solid black, exept his back legs foot where his toes are white. now hes getting more white not much but little single white heirs around his body and face. ive owned him seince he was 2 months and this started in the past 3 to 4 months. is it posible he will change his coat? i know my GSD pup whos ten months has in her hips and thighs from black to tan/black, i was just wondering if anyone else has delt with it if its posible?

I don't know about GSDs but my terrier was solid black as a pup with a little bit of grey at the tip of his paws and ears, once he lost his puppy coat his fur was just about solid black but for that little bit of grey then as he aged he got scattered grey hairs through his coat.

It wasn't until he was around 9 yrs old that he started going really grey, and now he looks like you see him in my avatar. His chest is almost solid light grey and his ruff and rear are getting there. I had to change his color description at the vet lol.

A dog does not have his full coat..including color until they are 18 months. So he may get more over the next couple of months.

it looks like he has his coat in already hes not shedding or anything. hes 16 months. ive only owned one dog that got older then a year and a half and she was an american eskimo and changed from white to a light cream, from 2-16. i dont know much about labs or shepeard apart from labs like to run/play and shepeard like to hunt and protect.. from what i can tell..

grab a white hair and LIGHTLY pull. If it comes out easily it could just be a dead hair. My guy will get those and I pull them out. Like I said, if they are dead they will just pop right out with a gentle pull. don't yank!

Since he is a lab/shep mix you are going to have some color change. Some Sheps do not get full pattern color till they are 18 months or older. Can you post a photo?

hes always has had the paw and the large white on his chest. but he has one to four hairs in every spot so it is kind of hard to see in some of the pictures.
