I do think it is kind of cool, maybe some kind of defensive thing to make potential predators maybe stay back thinking her eyes are open and they may have been seen perhaps? Either that or it is some kind of health issue I am just unaware of.

Has anyone else seen this? She is a Staffordshire terrier crossed with a whippet. No other dog I have seen does this. So either its a breed thing or I have no idea.

A lot of dogs sleep with their eyes partially open. I'm not sure the reason, but its normal.

She is just falling asleep is all. That third eyelid is something all dogs have, and it comes across the eye as the dog dozes.
All dogs I've ever known do this when very groggy.
Its usually nothing to worry about.

Now the only time to worry is if your dog is not feeling well and her third eyelid is not opening all the way even when she is fully awake. This is often a sign of fever and illness, so do be aware of this.

So it is just that she can't be bothered to close her eyes all the way or something then? Is that an issue?
