Hello! I am new here but hoping to stick around

Our new addition, Baxter, is 3 months old and 18lbs. When we got him from the humane society they suspected Beagle GSD mix, but I've had people tell me everything from Boxer to JRT in him. So just for fun, any guesses? Photos are below.

He has big paws, lots of loose skin, and is growing like crazy. He has white paws and white tail tip, but his back is black-brown peppery. His coat is VERY thick on his body. Brown eyes and very furrow-y eyebrows. He has very stocky arms and his body isn't "long and low" like a beagle.

The back and tail look GSD to me. Such a cutie! It'll be easier to tell once he's older and I can't wait to see what he ends up looking like.

I could definitely see some shepherd in there based on the coloring! If he really is a shepherd-beagle mix and his feet are huge, expect to be on the sheperd end of the weight and size scale! They can be 50 pounds and up really easily.

He is so cute though. I love his face.

No JRT tho, at least not dominantly; he's putting on size and JRTs and beagles are both pretty small.

I do wonder how much beagle he has in him though. I feel like I see Boxer, but not sure because of the white on him.

Boxers can have a lot of white, but honestly I don't see any boxer in him.

One more note - Baxter's lips and roof of mouth are very dark, close to black. His lips are definitely black.

I Googled and came across the Black Mouth Cur. Any thoughts there?

Mouth color isn't too indicative of much. My current pure shepherd has mostly black lips, black mouth interior except for tongue. Our pitmix has 100% blackmouth, and black spots on his tongue. A solid colored tongue! can be indicative of chow but s' about it.

It's a bit hard to tell when a pup is so young. I can see some sort of hound (not sure of which though) and possible GSD. As he gets older/bigger it might be easier to guess. Is he ever cute!

Thanks everyone! I'm just super excited to see him grow. I wonder how big hell get! Based on his current weight I am guessing somewhere around 40lbs, but there's no telling! His head seems so tiny I feel like he will never get big!
