Neither dog drinks much water. Our girl never would drink it so I'd started adding it to her meal and when we got our boy we did the same. I feed either homecooked or a local cooked brand to them, so they get about half a cup of water added to it - so they get a 'stew' for meals and it works well for them. When there's been a lot of running around they'll sip a bit of their regular water, but generally they're hydrated from their meals.

Which brings me to today. I've just started making bone broth (new IP!), and have heard it's fabulous for dogs. So this morning I gave both a bit of warmed broth before breakfast, and then less 'stew' than normal. 3 hours later we went for our walk, then 4 hours later a pee break.

For dinner I did the same as breakfast, and we'd then walk 3 hours later. Well about 90 minutes later our girl ran around crazily and went to get me (I was in the bathroom), I heard her scratch at the bathroom door, then she ran back to my husband on the couch, and I heard 'NOO! NOO!'.

Came hurrying out - she had hopped up and snuggled up to him..and peed. Like a lot, didn't stop when he said no. She then ran to the door and I was leashing her while hubs changed pants, and she started peeing again. He took her out, and she peed in the elevator. Outside she peed more.

I took our boy out to meet them, and he peed like crazy - 40 seconds. Then 20 feet later (he likes to mark-pee outside every 5 feet) he peed - 20 seconds. Then around the corner, another 30 seconds. This is totally unusual for him - usually does 5 second marks - and he peed another few times before we came in.

I know when we switched away from kibble that their poops changed dramatically, but has anyone noticed a change when giving bone broth to their dogs? Or any idea what this means? Fin had no issues after this morning's broth, but clearly it went through her faster tonight. I'm not sure if it just breached her bladder limit, or if this is a sign she shouldn't have it.

How much are you giving them? I've given some to my boy in the past but it was a couple tablespoon fulls he never changed his pee habit.

Dogs should drink about 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight. At 11.7 lbs my boy needs a little more then 1 1/4 cup of water per day.

Rain, that's probably about right for the amount of liquid added to their food.
As for the bone broth, I gave about 1/3 of a cup each time, but reduced the amount of food & liquid after. Is that too much broth for them? Is there any danger to them?

Never an issue with my chessie. He had free access to water and I'd just dump about a 1/3c in his food. It didn't last long enough to make it like stew.
