I saw blood on our hardwood floor. Molly broke her toe nail about halfway up. I cleaned it with watered down antibacterial soap and rinsed it. We are going to the vet to get it fixed as soon as we can. Is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable in the meantime? She's just as playful as usual.

Raffles did the same about a week before Molly. He broke it right up at the base one evening, was thoroughly miserable and wouldn't let me go anywhere near it - and he can get quite growly. So we took him to the vets the next day, where they cut it off bandaged and gave antibiotics as it was so high up. After a week and a half of hopping on three legs, he's now back to the occasional digging and it doesn't bother him at all. I don't think I could have done anything to make him comfortable at the time, and it was definitely a trip to the vets job! He did make a mess of the surgery waiting room afterwards though with bloody footprints, pee and poop everywhere! It's a bit late I know as I hope Molly's over it by now, but maybe useful to someone else.

Thanks, Raffles!
We took her to the vet and they cliped it short and cleaned it out. The only issue is that even though Molly isn't usually agressive she gets that way when her feet are touched. They had to sedate her to fix it and trim the rest of her nails. She feels much better now!
