Already made a vet appt. - just was curious if the community here has seen anything similar, if this type of thing is common, etc.

So my shih-tzu is 10 yrs old now, has generally had good heath. She's on 'revolution' for ticks/fleas/mites/heartworm etc.

About a month ago I noticed on the back of her neck, a little skin bump which seemed totally harmless, perhaps something she's just gotten with age. I looked really closely with a magnifier - didn't look like any kind of bite, and it was the same color as the surrounding skin area, didn't look red or irritated.

More recently though, it seems slightly larger and a little bit more pink. With maximum zoom-in with an iphone cam with direct sun for lighting, its apparent it has what looks like an inflamed pore at the center - kinda like what we'd get as teenagers with a big zit (acne) - what it would look like the following day if we had popped it the previous day. So I made a vet appointment (for later this week, as it doesn't seem like an emergency type thing).

Just was curious if the community here has seen anything similar (keeping in mind these photos are drastically zoomed in with high resolution - our eyes are definitley not this good), if this type of thing is common, etc. I don't believe it was a tick - I know what to look for with that -- perhaps another type of insect issue or maybe just a really big zit/pimple... we'll see what the vet says.

All photos are 5x zoomed in, a pen was used for size perspective/context.

Yes, let your Vet check it and decide what treatment is any is appropriate. Ours has something similar, Vet diagnosed it as a wart, and said as she got older, she will be eleven in January, she would get more. She did, but just lately they seem to be getting smaller. Vet will take them off if they get too big, or bleed, but they don't seem to bother her al all, so we have done nothing, and as I mentioned they now seem to be getting smaller...
