Disclaimer: In no way does what you're about to read affect my love and devotion to my dog. He is and will always be my best friend regardless of breed.

Now that that's out of the way, I must confess that ever since I found Tucker I've been borderline obsessed with finding his mix of breeds. I love studying the different breeds and looking up the dominant traits that are likely to be passed. Combining the two has lead me on this incredibly fun if not slightly frustrating journey. Here's the list of assumed breeds since finding him:

8-11 Weeks: German Shepherd, Pitt, Husky mix
12 Weeks to 6 months: Belgian Malinois
6 Months to 1 Year: Belgian Malinois German Shepherd mix
Today: Belgian Malinois Siberian Husky mix

Here's why I changed it today. I've been searching and searching for a dog on the internet that resembles Tucker. Most people assume GSD Husky mix, but most of those tend to have longer hair and darker coats. The anatomy just looked different as well. Then there's GSD Mal mixes, which he does look like some of them, but in the past 10 months of searching I've only found 1 picture of a Mal puppy with blue eyes, and without finding any information on the age, I just assumed that its eyes would eventually change to the normal brown. The internet has millions of pictures and after scrounging around Google Images, Pinterest, Reddit, and, yes, even Tumblr, I finally found a dog that looks like Tucker on Instagram. I'm not sure about the legalities, so I'm not going to post the picture, but it's a female Malinois Husky mix, she has the two different colored eyes, and she's tall and lanky just like my Tucker. Google images of a "Belusky" also provided a few pictures that look very similar to Tucker minus one or two details.

Would anyone happen to have any thoughts or past experiences with this mix? Or any insights for different breed mixes?

As for practicality, the town where I found him has plenty of huskies and I've seen quite a few Mal mixes and even one pure Mal (This one had an extended mask and was quite a treat to see). There are also a few breeders in nearby towns, so I believe that this combination is practical.

Also, please don't comment on the German Shepherd in the picture. It's an old picture to compare the two. Yes, we did cut her nails. Yes, we know she's overweight and we're working with our vet to figure out why. She's on diet food, doesn't get fed more than what she needs, doesn't get table scraps, and gets plenty of exercise. She also has major allergy issues, so I know her eyes don't look good. We're taking care of her. :)
(I've seen some threads on other sites where the major issue isn't discussed and the whole thread turns into a discussion on the minor issue from a picture. Just wanted to prevent that, although I haven't seen it much here.)
My friends have a Great Dane mix. So going by her looks, I would say your dog has some Great Dane in him. I would agree on some Malinois too. And those blue eyes? Tempting to say a Husky. Gorgeous dog anyway.
If you really want to know you could try a Wisdom Panel. They're not perfect but should be able to give you a pretty good idea about what her mix is.

I can see why you think she's a Mal mix
I don't think there's any husky in there. A lot of people see a blue eye and automatically think "husky", but in reality blue eyes can appear in any breed. He looks mostly German Shepherd to me (ears, body, facial structure), the only part that really screams Malinois is his coat.
What ever the mix, beautiful.

I would necessarily say Sibe/GSDs have a darker coat. This is, Heineken, the one we had until 1990 with our friend's Golden.

I agree. Although, until I saw the current pictures, I was leaning towards Mal/Husky mix.

My dad had a few Great Danes and he said he could see some of that in him, but other than his lankiness and muzzle his physical and mental characteristics don't line up. I do still consider it an option though.
@Rain I actually did do a test (i posted the results here as well :) ) and everyone I talked to (friends, vet, trainer, dog involved people) disagreed with the overall results. It was fun and I don't regret doing it though.
@patronizingrabbits German shepherd is the first thing most people see, but when he stands up he's not anatomically similar to them outside I'd the head structure. I feel like he's a Mal on steroids because he has the square body shape (easier to see when standing), the black tipped fawn hairs, different paw structure that make him stand on his toes, and little to no undercoat yet he's 1.5 times the size of the average Malinois. His temperament is what really screams Mal to me while his body size says german shepherd. I've also had pure Mal owners tell me he's at least part Malinois.
I also thought the same thing with the eyes and every time someone asked if he was part husky I told them the exact same thing, that the blue eye can happen in any breed. :D What made me start to consider husky is his one type of bark (he has many). It's this mix between your typical guard dog bark and a howl, and he always throws his head up when he does it as well. Of all the GSDs (and other types of dogs) my family has had, none of them have done this.
@SueM What a beautiful dog! I haven't seen any confirmed husky/GSD crosses in person, so I was basing it off google searches. I guess I should've said I've never been able to find one that has the fawn markings or similar that Tucker has. :D

I would totally buy malinois x husky, though something in the face looks off. The jaw looks too square to be husky, but I'm not sure where else the blue eyes would have come from. The malinois part I would believe for sure.
Any breed can pop blue eyes. I've seen blue eyed beagles.

The problem is, you can have two dogs of the exact same mix, the same litter even, who look totally different. My previous dog was a GSD x Golden Retriever. He looked like a mix of the two, but some in his litter looked pure GSD, some looked pure GR, others were mixes with different traits- prick ears, rose ears, etc.

So simply looking online and saying, "Not enough like my dog" doesn't help. There could be a dog out there from your dog's litter who is black with rose ears or blonde with drop ears. You'd never know.

@Elrohwen I see that too with the head. It's almost too square and edgy. Maybe some GSD is in there, or Great Dane.
@amaryllis I see what you're saying. I guess I meant that of all the pictures I've seen from multiple different sources and with talking to people, I see more resemblance between the Mal/husky mixes I've seen than the GSD/husky mixes I've seen. Certain traits tend to pop up more in the two mixes and that's what I was trying to match physically wise. I know some people just look at maybe ten pictures and say That's my dog! but trust me, I've looked through hundreds of pictures nearly every day for ten months. I love searching for patterns in genetics and I guess that's why I say he resembles the Mal pics instead of GSD. His combined physical and mental traits resemble Mal mix pictures and info more, but you're right. He could be a Great Dane Chihuahua mix and I'd never know XD
As a side note, I just have to say that the avatar of your dog makes me smile every time I see it. Smiles truly are contagious, especially when it comes from a dog. :D

Malinois and call me crazy but I think maybe Labrador Retriever
As far as I know, dogs have three types of blue eyes

Merle
Merle causes often blue eyes and it is quite common in some breeds like collies.
This dog does not appear merle although merle can sometimes be cryptic which means there is so little merling that you don't see it or it is atypical. This dog has a black mask and if it was merle it should be visible on its head.

White spotting
If a white spot covers the dog's eyes or the dog has much white on its head, it can have a blue eye or blue eyes. Excessive white on the head with blue eyes is connected to increased risk to be deaf. This dog does not have white splash nor white markings so it would be surprising if the blue eyes were related to white marking genes. I wonder if the abovementioned beagle example was blue-eyed because of white markings. Other breed examples are split-faced/white-faced border collies and dalmatians.

Husky blue
Huskies have a semi-dominant gene that makes blue eyes and it is not related to its coat color. So a husky mix can easily have blue eye(s) that are not related to white markings nor merle. I have not heard of this type of blue eyes in other breeds. If someone knows a breed that exists with a similar mutation, I'd like to hear.

Brown and blue diluted dogs have lighter eyes than non-dilutes but the eyes I have seen are not bright blue like the ones mentioned above but more greenish gray or yellowish.

Pretty sure it's a Belusky!

Hi there, I know it's an old post but I'm pretty sure you have a Belusky. I have an almost 3 year old Belusky so I've uploaded some pics of Eva to see what you think? It's a beautiful dog you have, what ever he is :)

I knew two different GSD/lab mixes, 50/50 cross both times. One looked like a chocolate lab the other like a black GSD. I've also seen pictures of mixed dogs that looked nothing like either parent, they looked 'mixed' if that makes sense.
With most Beluskys that I've seen the common factors seem to be; a predominantly fawn coloured coat, mostly white socks and underside, a black muzzle, dark ears, and more often then not, heterochromia (different coloured) eyes. I know that heterochromia occurs in a lot of mixed breeds, but this is a very common factor in Beluskys. Just my opinion, but he looks so much like my Eva.
Beautiful!

So, I'm going to throw fawn cane corso in the mix. That could account for the coat, the square-ish face & lips and larger overall size. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, they also commonly end up with blue eyes.

Can you tell us a bit about his personality?

EDIT: I just looked at your other pics (in your bio) and I have to maybe take back my comment about a cane corso and say instead a Dutch Shepherd. His body in one of your pictures just seems much more shepherd'ish than in the other photos.
I would say you dog is a mix of belgian malinois, german shepherd, and siberian husky. The reason I say German Shepherd is because his muzzle is almost wider than a belgian malinois's, who have longer (as we like to call them) "needle noses."
