I Adopted my dog from a shelter about 4 1/2 months ago and she immediately took to me. She followed me everywhere, I’m unsure if this is due to the leash training I used during her potty training. When I fed her I fed her inside her kennel to make the kennel a comfortable space for her as well as having used it for potty training. Once she was potty trained I wasn’t as restrictive with her movements anymore but she continued to follow me around and would always follow me to my room where I keep her kennel. At night she sleeps on my bed with me. She’s 8 months old now and about two weeks ago I accidentally scared her when she was trying to follow me to my room and she ceased following me since. I live with a few family members that mess with my training sessions, and yes I’ve talked to them about this and they think I’m making a big deal over nothing (for example when potty training, she went on the floor and one of the family members pet her and talked to her in a cooing voice right after). By her following me to my room I was able to have a quiet space to train her without them undermining my work with her. She still came when I called her and she still came when I told her we’re getting food and she’d happily bounce ahead of me to my room. But yesterday after taking her out to the country for a play day with my brothers dog, who sometimes stays with us, and the entire time she responded to every command I gave her while having full freedom. Until that night when she ignored my food mention, which she’s a highly food motivated dog. After finally getting her to my room she ate like she was extremely hungry so I know it’s not anything to do with her appetite. Then today she followed me around and responded to all commands when my family was gone but as soon as they got back she began to ignore me again and all commands given. What changed? Did I do something wrong? How do I fix this with family members who undermine all my training? Can it be fixed? I really need her behavior back the way it was.
Ps I was only able to get her to follow down for her feedings when I used a leash and then called her. No tugging used. I used the leash training when I potty trained her which took two months to train her. Do I go back to square one and retrain with the leash?

TL;DR My dog used to follow me and respond to commands, now only responds when no one else is around

I wonder if something happened during her play day out in the countryside that frightened her or startled her. Perhaps she ate or drank something that upset her tummy? Maybe, just being in a new environment stressed her? Maybe she's just having an off day and needs to settle down?

I would suggest giving her some time to bounce back. I know that you're very focused on her training, but sometimes, maybe she just needs to take a break from so much stimulation and expectation. The long term relationship is what counts the most. :)

Something else to keep in mind is that your dog now is a "teenager." As she matures, she'll settle down. Don't let a temporary set back discourage you. ?

Training is great, but it is also important to play and have fun. Make your interactions with her the greatest thing on Earth for her. Teach her tricks, that she can perform for the family.
Don't get upset over set-backs, they are completely normal. Just view them as another opportunity to work with her, be creative to make them a joyful event, and let her rest as well. Did you know that newly learned skills are retained much better when you sleep/have a nap immediately afterwards? I wonder if this could be true for animals as well :)
