Hi everyone, I am thinking of adopting a pug or a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel unfortunately google is giving me mixed signals so i'm looking for some owners to answer a few questions I have.

First of all, do pugs snort, sneeze, drool etc? And I have heard that pugs have a lot of of health issues so how many times do you go to the vet per year? Also are pugs hard to potty train?

With Cavalier King Charles Spaniels I have heard that they also have a lot of health problems also, so how many times do you go to the vet per year? Another thing is I heard that Cavalier King Charles Spaniels have separation anxiety so how long can you leave your dog alone for without destructiveness or barking? Last but not least does your dog bark in general?

I appreciate your input, this will be very helpful to me and other people.

Unfortunately the health issues in both breeds are so severe that some people consider breeding and buying them as unethical. Brachycephaly causes difficulty to breathe properly because all that soft tissue is squeezed into a narrow space and one symptom is that noise the dog makes when it breathes. Other symptoms are ie. weird sleeping positions, snoring, bad temperature tolerance and unwillingness to exercise. Think about living your entire life forced to breathe through a straw! The dog may be helped a bit by surgical operation.

Cavaliers have syringomyelia and chiari malformation. Those can be very painful.

These breeds would make wonderful companions but their health is a big problem.
