Hey Everyone!

I am visiting my parents house for Thanksgiving and I brought my dog, Jax.

My parent's dog (skylar) has a chipped tooth that formed an abscess.. She as a dental appointment at the vet to get it taken care of early next week.

Is is safe for Jax to drink water out of the same bowl as Skylar? I want to make sure he will not get sick from any bacteria that is causing Skylars abscess.

(** Side-Note- thankfully skylar is in no apparent sign of distress and is acting like her normal fun playful self.) I just want to make sure that Jax will not get sick from sharing water and toys with her.

Thank you all so much!

I suspect your Jax's immune system can handle any stray bacteria that comes his way. Dog's don't live a hermetically sealed life, they're surrounded by all kinds of bacteria all the time (so are we). And of course, a tooth abscess infection isn't contagious. I wouldn't worry about it. Just change the water often.

Not a vet or a doctor, but I've had a dog with the same tooth condition and it never affected him or my other dogs.
