Since my GSD has been diagnosed with epilepsy, I've done countless hours of research on it to get a full grasp of what seizures were, what causes them, and how it can affect a dog's health. I'm a huge medical nerd so I've also decided to write a lengthy, in-depth research paper on the topic. I feel as though it's important to spread awareness about canine epilepsy since many people don't know what to do during a seizure episode.

Basically, I'm just wondering if anyone else has a dog that's been diagnosed with epilepsy or perhaps has seizures from another cause. What are your experiences with it? How often do seizures occur? What kind of seizures are they (grand mal, focal, etc.)? Do you treat them with modern medicine, homeopathic medicine, or a combination of the two? Any detail is worth mentioning!

Molly has epilepsy though she hasn't had them in about two years. She's had both grand mal and atomic seizures. It used to happen whenever she was overstimulated and/or excited. She often fell down when she had one but during the atomic one's she would fall but wouldn't jerk around like the grand mal, she just kinda collapsed on herself and it took her a little while to get her to stand up and/or do anything but stare at me with dilated pupils while licking her lips. I had her on modern medicine but she recently got weaned off because of the lack of seizures.
