Why is my rescue dog suddenly being aggressive to my older dog who I've had for 12 years? We got her 18 months ago and they've got along fine til now. My partner was preparing their food the other night when the rescue dog attacked the older dog. She was terrified and doesn't want to come into the kitchen or where the rescue dog is without a lot of coaxing. Help, any ideas???

Sometimes, there's no reason for it. It's probably for the food. Your rescue has not gone through all dog phases yet so that's why it's new. Just make sure that you don't give affection to your elder dog as you only nurture her fear. The best thing you can do is to feed the older dog first. Make your rescue dog sit while the other one eats. It's a sign of respect in the dog world.

Good luck!
