Being a breeder I have to say that if you arent home it is not a good idea to keep a puppy with a strange adult. This adult you wont know anything about, and you wont know if your pup is being attacked while you arent home.
The only way it would be a good idea is to keep them seperated during the day but within eyesight of eachother. Yes the pup will learn alot from an adult but how many rescues would have been raised in a home. You may find yourself training both dogs at the same time. This is ok too if you have the time to do it. I do find it good that you want a rescue also, I like ppl saving a dogs life. Buying from a breeder is also excellent. Please make sure its not from a backyarder or farmer. Nothing worse than lining their pockets when you could bye a genetically healthy purebred dog. Breeders can show you the paperwork and history of the dogs that the pup you choose has come down from. A good breeder also breeds for good temperaments.
Hope this helped.
