About a month ago, I adopted a small pug/mix dog from the local shelter. Apparently "clean in kennel" did not = housebroken...
I have tried everything I know to help this dog remain a part of our family. He is a very loving and sweet dog, but seems to have anxiety issues. Even if left alone for an hour, will urinate in the house. I have tried the diaper banding and they too are wet even if only out for a little while.
Vet has checked and seems it is not a physical issue.
I have tried crating him, and he hikes his leg and pees through the crate onto my floors.
I am at my wits end. I have always had dogs, but this is very challenging. I may end up taking him back to the shelter if I cant get this resolved. Too bad that I really, really like him. It is a sad situation.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.:eyeroll:

When we adopted Samantha from the local shelter, we thought she at one year should be housetrained. Either she wasn't, or she reverted, but in our case she was a quick study. Three weeks of taking her out every 30 minutes and lots of praise and treats when she did go, she quickly learned peeing and pooping outside was virtually a key to the pantry.
