Well, I just wanted to brag a little to like minded people about how well my pup is doing in obedience!

Last week was the last session in the 'term'. We played a bunch of games that demonstrated the dogs ability in the things we had learnt.

So far in one 'term' Rambo has learnt to sit, drop, stand, stay, leave it/take it, dance, roll over, and loose lead walking. He is learning so fast!

We were supposed to have a 'look' word or 'watch' word, that asks your dog to give you their attention... Absolutely useless for me, as Rambo always has his attention on me!

So he was really good on the games night. We got the award for being best at 'musical mats' out of all the level 1 and level 2 dogs! For that game we had to walk around on a loose lead, sit when the music stopped, then run to a matt and sit on the matt.

He also was joint winner in our group of statues... Kind of like red light green light. When the lady turned around they had to sit within 3 seconds.

I'm so proud of my boy! He is so focussed on me during sessions, and picks things up so quickly. His attitude to obedience is so at odds with his scatterbrained personality the rest of the time, lol.

I'm trying to think of some more tricks to teach him. He can dance (stand on his back legs and spin around). I want to add stand and walk (on back legs). He can roll over from drop, I want to add crawl. I have tried beg, but he always falls over backward, lol. He fetches a ball at home, but as yet won't do it outside. Ideas?

This is the little booger:

Congrats on the progress! Doesnt it make you feel great that your dog is one of the behaved ones? lol. as for the playing fetch outside..my dog doesnt do it in our backyard but will in the house or out at the dog park (probably to make sure another dog doesnt get his toy lol). So im not too sure how to change that. Maybe get him excited about it outside? throw the ball and get cheery saying go get it or fetch. If that doesnt work get excited with ball yourself. go get it, again get excited, maybe throw it up in the air and catch it and drop it and kick it etc etc.

Congrats! I'd be proud too.

For the beg trick, just keep at it, it takes a while for them to build up the muscles there to do it right.

How about walking backwards? Or targeting? Theres also a handstand trick thats not hard to teach a small dog.
