We adopted a boxer/pitt this past July at 3 months, and housebreaking took about 2 weeks. She no longer goes to the bathroom in the house. Now, she's about 8 months old, and crate peeing is still a problem. We wake up with her between 6am and 7.30am, take her out for a walk where she goes to the bathroom and then give her breakfast. She gets a final walk before we head to work (8.30am) and is crated until 12.30 or so. No accidents this first part of the day. She gets a walk and a snack (recently integrated, since she's going through a growth spurt), then she's crated again and left until 5.30pm. Then there's all of the pee. All of the time. We've tried music, giving her lunch and not giving her lunch, taking her out multiple times at noon, trying a smaller crate or a bigger crate, towel on the ground vs. no towel on the ground... nothing is helping. There's no consistency or discernible pattern. Help is defintiely welcomed! And so much thanks.

First I would go for a vet check just in case and see if they have anything to offer.

The only thing I can see is that the second half is longer.

From what I understand about the concept of crate training, you don't want her peeing on herself in the crate. It can defeat the point. Depending how long this has been happening, she may already have gotten used to it.

Assuming the vet check is fine, if it was me, I would take a step back a bit and assume she can't hold it that long. If that's the case then you need to either add a walk or give her a place to relieve herself without it getting all over her. It would be better to gate her in a dog-proofed bathroom/kitchen with some pee pads and let her do that than have her lie in it. I would also really dunk the crate in that special enzymatic pee cleaner to make sure there is no pee smell on it. Then I would work back up to the crate.

What do you do on the non-work days? Is she better then? How about at night?

Hope this helps, just throwing out random ideas :)
