I tried searching a bit for these topics so I apologize if I missed a keyword worth searching to find my questions. Firstly, I have a half black lab/half pit 10 month old dog.
I have to work 8-4 weekdays, so our schedule isn't the best for a social dog. I have an outside chain link kennel that is about 12'x12' that is covered and has a dog house inside of it. When I get home, I wait a little while before playing with Thrace so she does not get too excited at me leaving/arriving. The thing is, she doesn't ever go into the dog house inside the kennel. If it's windy or even the slightest sprinkle of rain she starts to freak out.
At night I have a kennel that she sleeps in next to my bed that she has always had.
If I let her out of the outside kennel during the rain, she wants to play! She will potty in the rain no problem, and play as long as she has energy in it as well. But if I look at her through the window she is shaking and whining like she is hurt while in the kennel.
So that is my issue, I won't be able to bring her in or let her out when it rains all the time because obviously I may be at work. I've tried putting her sleeping pillow out to the outside kennel for familiarity before I leave for work but when I return she has shredded it. Any blanket I put inside the kennel gets eaten despite plenty of toys/antlers to chew on.
So 1, she won't sleep in the outside kennel, and 2, she flips out being in the outside kennel during the rain but loves to play in it. Any tips would help me immensely; thanks!
