Found these 2 beautiful puppies dumped on the side of the road. They're both sweet as can be. Living in my basement at the moment. I'm leaving for Michigan in less than 2 weeks and they need a home before then. Preferably outdoors but away from traffic (Fenced in backyard?)

About 12 wks old.
Look like Border collie crosses, maybe some australian shepherd in them.
Both females.

No. I'm finding these puppies a good home. I assure you I'm checking with everyone who is looking into them. I'm not interested in money. I'm not charging an "adoption fee."

then don't be shocked if they end up dead. People who use these free dogs are pros at deceving people. They will look like a good home.

Every. single. rescue group and humane society suggests a person charge an adoption fee...its for the dogs own safety, not for money.

These dogs are precious. I've always wanted a border collie, but already have two loving poodles. I'm sure you won't have any problem finding a great home for them.

Do be really careful though. I live close to a large teaching University and we have dogs just disappear all the time. People take them there and sell them. I'm sure they are paid well for the dogs.

Sorry, I might be reviving an old thread, but can anyone explain to me why charge an adoption fee? I mean, 50 dollars is quite a low sum of money. If the person wants to use the dogs as bait or medical research, 50 dollars shouldn't be a problem for them right?

Awww They Are Sooo Adorable!!! I Hope You Find Great,Loving Homes For Them!!! You Should Keep Us Updated! And,I'm Not Really Sure If You Should Have "An Adoption Fee" Or Not? That's Totally Up To You...I'm Not Saying You NEED To,OR They WILL DIE! (lol...That's Just a Little Bogus)...Not Everyone Who Goes & Gets a Free Dog Is Going To Abuse Them,Or Hurt Them...?! BUT,Just Be Very Careful,& Do NOT Give Them To ANYONE That You Feel Weary About,Ya Know! :) Hope This Helps! (=

Beauties both of them. As for adoption fees, if you don't feel comfortable with keeping the money, you could always donate that money to a rescue orginization. (Forgot who mentioned it to me about donating the money.)

Just a thought. Good luck and let us know what's going on.

why would a person use the dog as bait, if they can get a free dog just as easily? That is the thinking behind it.

The research labs buy the dogs for $50, so people who gather them need to get them for free to make any money.

and honestly, having sold pets for nearly a decade, sadly people don't put value on free animals like they do animals that cost money, even if its not much. :)

I totally agree.

If a person feels "wrong" or uncomfortable taking peoples money they could always have the adoption fee donated to a local humane society or rescue. That way people know they aren't out looking for cash and they can feel more confident that a pet will go to a good home. It is true that pets that are given away for free could end up being used for animal testing, and if not still have a higher chance of being "discarded" or re-homed.

Wonder what ever happened to these two darlings. I hope they got good homes and are together. They really did look like identical twins!
