Let me start off with saying that I already called my vet clinic, we went through the standard procedure questions in case we needed to take him into emergency. He's good enough for us to make an appointment for this Friday for an examine (the soonest available appt.).

I turned in a sample of his stool 2 days ago (when he was solid) for a random check up. Luckily the results came out negative for parasites. However, the next day (yesterday) he started having diarrhea. I did switch his food about 5 days ago but I made sure to mix his old with the new and add a tablespoon of the Switch fruitable cans until we finished his old food. He was doing perfectly fine up until yesterday. He is now eating his new food with the Switch cans. I always keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he does not eat anything bad..someone mentioned that his teething could be causing this issue.

He's still very playful and takes several of his normal naps throughout the day.

His diarrhea is normal colored, so it's not black nor is there any red in it. What could it be??

What food was he eating & what food is he eating now? It could be a lot of things...an allergy, over-eating, treats that aren't sitting right.

I assume he's acting normal otherwise or your vet would see you earlier. He might just still need time to settle into his new food.

He went from Wellness Trufood for puppies to Orijen for Large breed puppies.

Thanks so much for your reply. I am thinking he might need to adjust..But he does not seem to like the Switch Fruitables can when I add it to his food.. I trained him to sit with kibbles of his food and he loves it. So my assumption is he just doesn't like that can. Although he will eventually eat all if his food, just not chow down like he normally did without the can.

Yeah, I'd try ditching the can and see how he does.

I don't know a lot about puppies (we got our girl at 7 months old) but, she had crazy diarrhea from eating "Now" Grain Free Large Breed (similar to Orijen). We used to say she'd have "Starbucks S#!ts" because she'd just poop out everything she ate and Now is expensive! We tried other kibbles but nothing worked. Eventually, we switched to raw and she's been amazing ever since. She's lean has muscles, healthy teeth, coat, etc. So, if you can't figure out what's bugging him and he's testing negative for everything else, it's something to think about.

Orijen is a great food but it tends to have 6 or 7 kinds of meat in it. It could be there are to many for your dog to get used to at once. I would skip the switch food it sounds like the latest gimmick.

He's 100% better after putting him back on Wellness Trufood for Puppies. You were right about Orijen..he's too young right now and needs to do a really slow transition with it.

Glad it worked out. Some dogs like mine can only eat 1 meat. If he eats anything but turkey he gets a stomach ache.

Glad your puppy is better now! Orijen is a very rich food indeed ive never tried my dogs on it because one has allergies and i wouldnt even put my senior lab on it in fear of it being too rich so he on acana light and fit which agrees with him. Also orijen where i live is far too expensive ($159 a big bag :O ) cant justify that cost when acana light and fit is $100 for big bag
