10 yr old Boston sore neck and swollen lymph nodes

Need advice:
My 10yr old Boston terrier has Cushings disease and diabetes insipdius (water diabetes) it is somewhat controlled but starting to have increased drinking and urinatuon again. Going to re-do ACTH testing soon

The new problem is: 2 weeks ago my Boston was more lethargic and would spit out hard food and have trouble eating. We took him to the vet and he yelped when she touched his neck. Both lymph nodes in neck were swollen and neck was very sore and stiff. We did complete blood work and everything was normal.
We put him on metacam and did one laser treatment for the neck. He appeared to be better. We just finished antibiotics this week and his lymph nodes are swollen again and same thing...neck sore. He's quiet, not himself :(
My vet wasn't in today and won't be in until Monday. Put him back on metacam.
Can a sore neck for whatever reason cause swollen lymph nodes. Only the ones in the neck are swollen. When we were there a couple weeks ago she checked others and did full check up and teeth seem fine.
Could it be an infection somewhere? While on antibiotics as better. Also, Cushings dogs can take longer to heal than those without We also recently did urinalysis due to peeing more and it was fine.
Anyone been though this?

Recommend do cytology on the nodes... simple and relatively painless test (except of the cost). Might get a diagnosis that way... next best thing to actually sending in an entire lymph node, which is often what we have to do to find out for sure what is going on.

Any idea what this could cost? General idea? I really hope he doesn't have lymphoma. See, when he was on antibiotics, they got better.,,and now swollen up again and you can tell his neck is bothering him but metacam is helping until I speak with my vet Monday.
We have been through everything with this dog but he's always the happiest and overcomes lots of issues. I want to help him.
His meds for Cushings and diabetes insipdius are $350 monthly plus special food Cushings testing somewhat regularly and always issues popping up. We love him so much and want to do everything we can but the amount of money just keeps adding up :(
Any other ideas? My vet out him back on anitinflammatoriea because he did get better but not working. She really believe he has a sore neck.

Has anyone had a dog have a sore neck with swollen lymph nodes?

Help!
