10 year old peeing inside when im home only!

past 2-3 weeks my 10 year old springer spaniel "astro" has been peeing in the house ONLY when I am home 12 hours of being gone and hes fine. let him out and comes in and pees an hour later standing in front of me. only accidents in house in the past I would blame on stomach or or not going #2 before I leave so he lets go in house.

this peeing when I am home is random. he was wrestling with the cat as usual, looked at me and started peeing. cooking dinner last night, turn and a spot all wet on carpet. breakfast for the kids Saturday morning and he is always by kitchen hoping for scraps and starts peeing while I am looking at him. hes never been the dog to tell me when he needs to go out. I just take him out. getting tired of cleaning carpet and he has always been great in the house.

medical?
spite?

any help is appreciated. I have started taking out more often and no change. urine appears normal color when I watch him pee. doesn't seem to drink more than usual. one dog and 1 cat from same bowl and seem to add to it for same frequency.

thanks in advance!

Dogs don't do things out of spite. They don't understand to concept of it. Based on the info you've given it might be medical, might be something that comes with old age. I would take him to the vet and have them check him out. If he's not peeing when you're not home (which are you sure he's not? Maybe somewhere where you haven't noticed?) then I would lean more towards old age, most dogs sleep/relax when no one is around and don't stimulate the bladder, when you are home he's up and about or playing and get's the bladder going.
