Hello. I have a 10 week old male yellow lab who refuses to learn his name or come. I am using both his food and treats. I have had female labs, boxers and German shepherds before and so far he has been the hardest to initially train. Is this due to being a male? Also he is will to play but at the same time does not seem to have the energy my other dogs had as puppies. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you!

I doubt it's a gender thing.

But take a step back - he is 10 weeks old, a baby.

I'd say his name and simultaneously shove a treat in his mouth. I'd do that 5 times, then take a break. Then do that 5 times in a day (so 5 x 5).

Or even use his normal food, but the principal is the same.

For coming to you, I love a whistle. It's always consistent. You could try pipping the whistle whenever you put his food down.
