It depends on the area you are in. If parvo is not super common and you can walk the dog on the sidewalk or even areas where dogs do not commonly go I say thats fine. Stay away from areas where dogs commonly go tho(parks for example) and make sure not to let your dog sniff any dogs mess.

To be safe, I would not. IF you have a backyard that isn't accessible to other dogs, then that would be fine but the risks are too great IMO to do that until he is fully immunized.

Thank you both for responding. It is such a beautiful day for a walk with the puppy and my older dog, but to be cautious and because I live in a large city with lots of dogs, it is probably better if I just wait and talk with my vet who I was lucky to get an appointment for tomorrow. This puppy is so full of energy and loves going in the backyard to do his business, so I can hardly wait to see how he does out for a long walk with my 13 year old who is a mix breed herder...love the herding breeds! I guess I'll just have to be patient as I certainly wouldn't want to put this lovely little puppy at risk. Thanks again for you input!

Thanks so much!!!! We think he's pretty cute too. Even 'thebestdogintheworld" is getting used to the little one! We all call my older dog that because frankly, we think she is. The little one has a lot to live up to. Having said that, it looks like he is going to be pretty great and is already showing that he is a smart little guy!

By the way, his nose will fill in as he grows. The pink will go and it will be the reddish colour of the splotches in his coat. He is a red merle.
