two puppies...

This is a discussion on two puppies... within the Puppy Help forums, part of the Dog Training and Behavior category; hilarious, but most of all, very spot on. I thought you all would enjoy this Raised By Wolves: Take Two, They’re Small Never pay again ...

What if I have two dogs that are 1.5 years apart in age, different genders, and are still "co-dependent" and attached at the hip?

I had that exact problem 11 years ago, it was truly a stressful time in my life, and I had no idea about that sort of situation.
I wanted a small family of Yorkies so I went out in search of puppies. Actually it all started with Lily, my first, she was a pitiful tiny thing at a horrible pet store but I won't get into that. We decided she needed a friend and I found a "breeder" who said another female would be perfect!!
And then came Spike, he always minded his own business and ignored the girls when the fights broke out.

Anyways, it did turn out that the girls hated each other in a big way and there was nothing I could do to deter it. We had fights that ended in blood shed every week for a month and then decided to separate them for good. It was heart wrenching because all the dogs were miserable with that arrangement so we adopted out Daisy after about 3 weeks of looking for a new home. She went to a woman who's 14 yr old Bishon had died about a month earlier. I kept tabs on her for about a year and she was doing really well and the lady really loved her. That at least made me feel a bit better but I really will never get myself into that situation again.
