Trouble Walking Puppy

Hello everyone! Our dog Rosie is a 5 month old chocolate lab, and we've been having trouble taking her for walks. We just thought we'd see if anyone could give us some advice!

The trouble starts before we can get her out the door. She's utterly uninterested in taking walks in the first place. We've been using a harness so that she doesn't hurt herself by pulling but getting the harness on her is a major struggle. For some reason she hates the harness and will run away and avoid it at all costs.

When we've finally managed to coax her outside for a walk, it's her calling the shots and not us. She'll either bulldoze ahead and drag us along, or sit and refuse to move for long periods of time.

I'm sure some of these struggles come from us not properly dominating and determining the tempo of the walk, but it also seems strange to us that she'd be so reluctant and uninterested in going on walks. We want to make sure that she's getting proper exercise after all. Anyway, if you have advice feel free to share it, we're listening!

You might want to leave that harness on the pup during the day to get her used to it.
Make going on a walk a fun thing. Get her favorite treats and have a party on the walk. Training on a walk can make it more interesting. Maybe try some clicker training on the walk.
No dominating and determining the tempo just teach your pup to love walks. Lots of good treats usually makes everything fun.

I forgot to add this video to show you how well clicker training works. Look at this 2 1/2 month old lab
