I am looking for a female Siberian Husky puppy to get as a playmate for my 5 month old male Husky, just as a playmate, no interest in breeding or the puppy being a purebred. I just love the breed, and I've wanted to raise Denali with another playmate since the beginning. I have and plan to continue to check local shelters and papers for one, though.

I tried looking online at oodle.com for pets, but every person just doesn't seem right. One seller who claimed to live in my town actually lives in Georgia, won't say where exactly though, and won't let me actually see the puppy before I buy it. Of course I would never do a deal like this, but this is the problem I keep seeing. If anybody knows where I can find reliable owners and sellers in the Charleston, SC area, I'd appreciate it very much. As I said before, I'd prefer not a purebred, and can't wait to welcome a new addition to my home! And sorry if this is the wrong place to post this or if the answers already somewhere else, I'm still pretty new here.
Just be very careful with petfinders Just recently a puppy mill was selling puppies as rescues. You want to be able to go where the puppies are to check conditions. keep checking the shelters that is your best bet.

Does anybody know if Next Day Pets.com is a good site or not? I'm still searching around in case Denali's mom isn't expecting again. I don't actually want to get another puppy till at least the beginning of the new year, once the holiday rush is over. I just don't know if Next Day Pets is just a bunch of breeders. I've never had to search for a dog online before, so I just want to make sure and take my time somewhere safe. Thanks!

Okay, so what do you think the owner of Denali's mother is. A breeder. A very reliable one, which most of them that sell only to the public are. Most breeders that sell to pet shops sell to brokers, the in between people, and don't sell to the public. They must book their litters as soon as possible, and they book the entire litter. Read up on your breed, and ask questions. Find out from your vet what shots and wormings should have been done by 8 weeks. Don't buy a pup that's under 7 weeks. Just put out your feelers and if those little hairs on the back of your neck stand up, avoid that person. Don't buy a pup because you feel sorry for it. If it's not getting proper care, don't keep that person in business by buying the pup.

The reason I got my dog from that certain couple was that they are very responsible. Before even offering to buy a puppy from them, I met his parents. It's just the two of them in a large, clean yard. The couple have three children who were playing with them, and the dog's themselves looked very healthy and active, and were very friendly. They were both used to being in cars, as was demonstrated to me. Both of their shot/check up records were shown to me. I figure that if that was some kind of front, it was a really good one. I could've looked around more, but I had recently moved across the country to be with my fiance (who's in the Navy), and was terribly lonely. I needed a companion, so I started looking for a dog, and a couple weeks later saw their ad in the local paper.

And I have looked into getting a rescue. I have and will continue to check the ASPCA's website and local shelters. I want a female so hopefully there's less competition between them, and would like to get her young (under 5 months). I'm still really just looking though, unless one pops out at me I'd like to wait till Denali's a little older (he just turned six months old!!)

I think it's very good that you are willing to wait till you are ready or find the right puppy. In my personal experience the best dogs I have ever owned were the ones that just popped up out of nowhere when I wasn't even looking or was just taking my time and waiting for the right one.
Sorry, OT but I just wanted to add that.

That's how all my animals in the past have been, growing up we had two dogs and two cats, who are still very much alive, and each of them was from a rescue or a shelter that we got out of the blue. I figure since I already have one young Husky, I need to take my time and do what's best for both of us

I just googled next day pets and found endless scam alerts. Try it with any service like that and you can get a sense of what you are dealing with. Google it and read.
