Puppy meeting our dog: where?

If we adopt an 8 month old pup, where would be the best place for our dog (5 years old) and the new pup to meet? Inside the house? backyard? Dog park?

dog park, neutral territory. I would try to introduce the dogs a few times in different situations eg. on lead, off lead, different locations... Just try to keep the locations neutral territory to start with and dont panic if one dog puts the other in its place as they will naturally sort out their hierachy.

If we get the dog on a certain day and our dog hasn't met it yet, how would we introduce them in different settings? Two cars, hubby in one with one dog, me in the other with the other dog and meet at different places?

affraid so. if not you can do it just walking around town to avoid having to use two cars. if they get on strait away, and accept a hierachy instantly you may even be able to put them in the car together (separated by a crate to start) to take them new places together.
But definately have two people, one for each dog and switch occasionally who has which dog. as long as you are both confident, the dogs should follow suit.
