Why not see a behaviourist who can offer professional advice tailored to your situation? There's a link in the stickies on how to find the right one (as opposed to one that will make this worse, or uses outdated methods when better/more efficient alternatives are available).

Do you have a cloth leash or a chain one?

The tugging on the leash and growling is very likely play. A cloth leash is fun to bite and tug on! .. A chain leash will not be. Sammy did this as well, until I switched leashes. He gave it one good bite to play 'tug' with .. and hasn't done it since. We're still working on the pulling thing but he doesn't bite his leash anymore.

Has been using nylon leash....but will be picking up a chainleash. ...his pulling is a bit better since we put him into a harness....next purchase. Think will be to give the easy walk harness a try

This is perfectly normal for a puppy to do.
It takes training and time to reinforce that training but it will get better!

Here are a couple of videos that helped me when mine were smaller -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBvPaqMZyo8 - the positive interrupter

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c77-...yWnmO62PoDfpEA - to stop the biting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR7TvrUQ_1k - stop leash biting.

If you don't train with a clicker already, I recommend it! It is super easy and fun!

I wish you the best of luck!
