Puppy eats a lot of grass

My puppy has been eating a lot of grass since I got him home and it worries me. I read that means they have a tummy ache. Is that always true or could he just really enjoy eating grass?

If he does have an upset stomach, I want to help him! Maybe I'm not feeding him enough, too much? Or maybe the wrong type of food...

Calypso ate grass when she was a baby. I could never figure out why, except that it was there and exciting and ooh eating. She grew out of it after a few months.

Dogs eat grass for a whole host of reasons, including "beats the heck out of me."

Does the pup eat the grass and throw up or just eat the grass. My hound used to eat grass in the mornings and then would throw up because he was intolerant of the meat in his food. I found limited ingredients food with only one meat in it and that solved his problem. My other dog eats grass all the time and does not throw up. I call it doggie salad.

No he doesn't throw up. I guess he is just a salad freak

My 16 week old lab mix eats grass all the time, not because she needs to throw up but because it's available and she needs something to chew on. I have a theory she's part cow or sheep...lol

My 12-week old puppy has a mouthful of grass every time we come back from a walk, even though I try to prevent it! She never got diarrhea or any signs of discomfort from it, so I just laugh and call her "little cow".

My boyfriend's adult lab mix, on the other hand, mostly only eats grass when her stomach is upset - she won't eat any dog food at home, and chomp some herbs outside instead. I don't know if grass hurts or helps her, but in her case, it's definitely a sign of discomfort.

Guinness mows the lawn and she could graze all day if I let her. My late Aussie, would love to eat grass, you could find her in the pasture with horses grazing all the time. I asked my vet about it and he told me some dogs just eat it to eat it. If he's not getting sick, he might be just doing a little taste testing

I think my pup's just chewing on grass because it's there and he likes to chew on everything. I've noticed that when I pull up weeds, he likes to take a mouthful of them and prance around. He hasn't upchucked or had diahrrea, so I think he's just chewing grass to chew.
