Puppy Biting/Nipping

I know this is a normal behaviour for pups to do nipping/mouthing/teething.... but how do i teach them or divert them from biting human's ankel and pant's leg? i hv tried diverting him with his toys but all he did was rushed back and bite my/guest's ankel and pant's leg even harder and will not let go. i hv also tried time out. it usually takes at least 3 rounds for him to eventually stop for a while. he also seems to loose interest with his toy very quickly and aim for everything else instead. Just afraid the biting will grow into dangerous habbit/behaviour when he gets older.

When Darla gets particularly nippy i make that buzzer aaatttttt! noise. she stops for a second and then i get her involved in a short game of fetch. i guess that would be a distraction technique? I've found when she's not been active enough she gets rowdier. so before she can get like that, i play fetch for a bit or take her for a walk. She's a Great Dane and i've been told you shouldnt "run" a dane pup til they are at least 2. but maybe if you burn off that energy before your guest gets there she will nap while your guest is there?
