Could you somehow get a yard leash that attaches to a stake in the ground? Either way, I wouldn't worry about a retractable until the puppy knows how to heel and has been socialized to the outside world a bit.

I live on a 3rd floor apartment, dont think I can put a stake in the ground lol guess I will just see how well she does with a nylon first and move up to a retractable

Oh, ok. When you said "yard" I wasn't sure to how much space you were referring to lol As far as the leashes, I would do just that. Hopefully it all works out for you.

Well there is a lot of space, I would say its larger than the average persons home yard, its pretty huge and its behind the building where there are no roads or parking lots
