Puppy advice please

I posted earlier about my pup, Serenity being pushy/dominent and I think she is a bit pushy but I know she will learn how to play with other pups properly one day. I am posting this just so I can learn so I don't make any mistakes with her. Serenity has started growling if she is beside me or on my lap and if I pet a dog or the dog comes up to me she will growl.

Example 1: I was at a friends place and some friends came over with there dogs. Serenity had enough and decided to sit on my lap (I was on a chair and picked her up). She was asleep and another dog put her paws on my leg and she growled so I placed her on the ground but continued growling at the dog until he/she moved away. She did this again and I placed her on the ground but she didn't growl. She will do the same behavior even if I am sitting on the ground

Example 2: My friends puppy (Harley) were playing before ignoring each ether and they went near each ether again at one point and I hear fighting and I turn around, Serenity is on top of Harley, attacking him, she was NOT playing. I know the difference between play and a fight. I of course separated it.

I wasn't sure what started that til today. Serenity really likes my bag and she always lays on top of it, she doesn't like other dogs being to close to my bag sometimes and I am thinking she attacked him because he was near the bag. It seems when a dog gets close to my bag or me while she is near me, she will become protective. My bag was on the ground.

I do know the Kelpies/Australian Cattle Dogs are protective, one person type of dogs so I do believe she is showing early signs of protecting me from other dogs but I don't want her doing this. Maybe she isn't protecting me but my question is, how would she be viewing these actions in her head?. She doesn't growl at another dog if she is away from me, this behavior only happens when she is on me, near me or if a dog is near my bag.

When she does this behavior, should I move her completely away from other dogs?. I am asking because she is clearly growling so the dogs stay away and if I take her away, she is getting what she wants, no dogs near me while she is around. Should I tie her up away from me and other dogs?.

I never had this problem with another dog so I'm stumped. I know I still have plenty of time to train/socialize her. The more I know how to handle her, the better. Thank you.

I'm not sure that she is necessarily protecting you from other dogs.
She may instead be guarding you (meaing she sees you as a high value resource) from the other dogs.
I could be wrong, but that would be my guess!

Has she shown any signs of resource guarding food, toys, or other items?

If so, then I would check out Mine! by Jean Donaldson.

She hasn't shown any resource guarding at all. She is more then happy to let me take a toy, food, anything. That makes sense though!. I just need to stop the behavior. She is really attached to me already and this breed is known for being a one person dog. When she is away from me, she shows no problem with playing if she wants to, she wont growl at another dog unless it's near me or my bag.
